Getting Anxious
So I am thinking about having my baby and it is starting to make me a little nervous! Erik and I still don't have any baby stuff, but that's not what worries me the most. It's that we really don't even know what we will need! I mean, obviously there's clothes and diapers and stuff, but as I look around and think about it there is a lot of baby stuff out there and I don't know what will be helpful and what is just dumb, and what will be needed right at first and what will just sit around for a few months before it even gets used. So to all you moms out there, and even any not-moms-yet, I have a question: What is the one "baby" item (or two or three) that you would never want to have to live without? I would really appreciate any suggestions. I am not due until the end of February, but that just means that I could have a baby in only 3 months and at the moment I feel seriously under-prepared!

Yay for babies! I'm just gonna be forward and tell you that I really want to see your baby bump... I haven't seen a single profile picture! The one thing I wished I would have had before Harrison was born was Mylicon drops (they're for gassy tummies). Not sure if all babies need these or not, but he was really collicky and fussy and we had to make an emergency 3 AM trip to the store for some, which seemed to help him a lot. But it would have been nice to have them on hand rather than at a time when I couldn't think straight. Also, I don't know how you feel about the whole breastfeeding idea and what your plans are for that, but I started pumping when I came home from the hospital and it was so nice to have some extra milk in the fridge for the hubby or mother in law to wake up with the baby for a feeding so I could have some extra sleep and recover.
I love my bottle scrubber brush thing and my bottle drying rack. It makes clean up of bottle so easy! Also, a stationary changing table. There is nothing worse than having to lean over or get on the ground to change a dirty diaper.
#1 must have: Lansinoh Lanolin for breastfeeding. You really do NEED this (and I have it for you) #2 must have: baby sling! (also already taken care of) Aside from those two things, I would say that you can never have too many receiving blankets and burp cloths. Oh, and good nursing pads. I learned that one the hard way :)
All of my cousins swear by their bumbo seats. My brother swears by a swing. Best way to give your arms a break and rock them to sleep.
I've heard a bobi (sp?) is a must have. It's a little that kind of wraps around your belly that helps support your baby when you're feeding them. It's also good to just help support them. My sisters all swear by them.
I've also heard a really good bra is a must have for you.
Good socks! Especially for your little winter baby!!!! They are hard to keep track up so my sisters used a mesh net bag and threw the whole bag in the washer adn dryer.
Thanks everybody for all the great suggestions! I really appreciate it! If you can think of any more feel free to keep them coming :)
K Alyssa... I absolutly loved my baby virating bouncer thing. The babies love them for some reason! I would put Addie in it on the floor when I took a shower so she could still be right there with me and I didn't have to wonder if she was crying or not. And she seemed to like the sound of the water. They are great. Everytime she would cry Josh would say, " I'lll get the boncer!" That was his answer for everything. Man I wish she wouldn't of grown out of that. :) Also a breast pump is a must! Man sometimes you get so FULL of milk your gonna die! Mine saved me MANY times. When I got it I didn't think I'd use it very much. WRONG. well sorry so long. Don't ask me about motherhood. I could go on and on! It's the best and I am SO freaking excited for you guys!! Yahoo!
